RESOWTION NO. 86-73
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY' OF
SFl'/ARD, ALASKA, REFERRING A PROPOSED CITY CHARTER AMENDMENT
TO THE ElECTORATE AT THE OCI'OBER 7, 1986, REGllIAR CITY ELECrION
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to seek clarification via a
vote of the people regarding eligibility of City enq;>loyees to serve on
the City Council;
NG\1, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Pursuant to Sections 14.2 and 14.3 of the Charter
for the City of Seward, Alaska, the follCMing proposition shall be
submitted to the voters at the October 7, 1986, regular election, to be
held in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 8 of the Seward City
Code. An affirmative vote of a majority of those qualified electors
voting on the issue is required for approval.
PROPOSITION NO. 1

Shall Section 2.3 of the Charter for the City
of Seward, Alaska, be anended by the addition of the
follCMing language?
Sec. 2.3. Persons ineligible for city office
or enq;>loyrrent.
(b) Persons enq;>loyed by the City may not serve
on the City Council except for enq;>loyees of public
health facilities whose tenns and conditions of
enq;>loynent are set by a citizen board established by
ordinance.
Section 2. The foregoing proposition shall be printed in the
fom and manner set forth herein and in carrpliance with the provisions
of Section 8.16 (c) of the Seward City Code.
Section 3. Publication of this resolution shall be made by
posting a copy hereof on the City Hall bulletin board for a period of
thirty (30) days prior to the date of the election. Additionally,
copies of the resolution shall be made available at the city clerk's
office for at least twenty (20) days preceding the date of the election.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect irrmediately upon
its adoption.
