ORDINANCE 2005-01
A ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALA , REVISING SEWARD CITY CODE SECTION 5.45.015(A)
(HOTE OTEL ROOM TAX - LEVY OF TAX), INCREASING THE TAX
RATE FR 4% TO 5%
WHEREAS, Init! ive Ordinance No. 95-0l-INIT was placed before the voters at the regular
election in October 1995 an as approved by a majority of those voting on the question; and
WHEREAS, said Ordinan established a 4% Hotel/Motel Room tax and Seward City Code
5.45.015 provides authority for the im osition of a hoteVmotel room tax; and

WHEREAS, the preliminary 2005 eral Fund budget anticipates an increase in the bed tax with
each 1 % ofthe bed tax generating approximate~$53,750; and

WHEREAS, there is proposed a 1 % increas~'~ the bed tax from 4% to 5%.

Section 1. Seward City Code Section 5.45.01 5 (A) is ameni:k(d as follows:
