CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE 2005-04
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AMENDING THE SEWARD CITY CODE PROCEDURES
AFFECTING UTILITY RATE INCREASES TO REQUIRE PUBLIC
HEARINGS
WHEREAS, utility rates are passed by resolution and published in the City's tariffs; and
WHEREAS, the Seward city council is requesting any tariff changes follow a public
hearing.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF SEWARD
ORDAINS that:
Section 1.

The Seward City Code Section 14.01.040 is hereby amended to read as
(strike out = deletions, bold italics = additions):

14.01.040 Rates and charges.
Utility Service rates and charges shall be established by resolution,; following a public
hearing. Notice of the public hearing shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation
and shall be posted in at least three public places within the city at least ten days prior to the
hearing.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this 26th
day of September 2005.
