HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes2002-001 CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 2002-01 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, IN COOPERATION WITH THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT, REVIEW AND PROPOSE A PUBLIC INVOL VEMENT PROCESS FOR CITY OF SEWARD CAPITAL PROJECTS. WHEREAS, capital improvement projects are a necessary function of municipal governments; and WHEREAS, public involvement is an essential component relating to the success and impact of such projects; and WHEREAS, the State of Alaska has developed and administers a comprehensive public involvement process for all capital projects; and WHEREAS, this process has proven to be a successful and proactive mechanism to involve and inform the public; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has been working with Mr. Jerry George and a committee of interested parties for the creation of such a process for the harbor; and, WHEREAS, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board, at the recommendation of the City Manager, desires to have the Community Development Department and Planning and Zoning Commission finalize this process and apply it to the City of Seward as a whole. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The Community Development Department and the Planning and Zoning Commission develop and recommend for City Council adoption, with P ACAB input, the Public Involvement Plan for the City of Seward. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City of Seward, Alaska, Port and Commerce Advisory Board this 3rd day of April, 2002.
