CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2005-29
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROPRIATING THE AMOUNT OF $61,000 FOR THE
PURCHASE OF HOSPITAL CAPITAL EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, the Providence Seward Medical and Care Center ("PSMCC") is owned by
the City of Seward and is managed and operated by Providence Health Systems Alaska; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of Seward to support the local
hospital by replacing outdated equipment and upgrading equipment and technology to enable the
hospital staffto provide the best possible level of health care services; and
WHEREAS, this funding request will: enable the hospital to perform a new exam to
screen bond density to better diagnose osteoporosis; replace the aging cautery machine used
during colorectal cancer screening; provide capital matching funds for PSMCC to upgrade and
install teleradiology and telehealth equipment; and replace aging commercial washing machines
used to was patient clothing and linens

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The amount of$61,000 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund fund
balance account no. 101-0000-3070-0301 to the Hospital Special Revenue Fund account no. 301-
0000-3070-0101.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 9th
day of May, 2005.
