CALL TO ORDER

The May 24,2007 special meeting of the Seward City Council was called to order at 7:00
p.m. by Mayor Vanta Shafer.
OPENING CEREMONY
Councilmember Schafer led the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
ROLL CALL
There were present:
Vanta Shafer presiding and
Willard Dunham
Bob Valdatta
Jean Bardarson
Linda Amberg
Steve Schafer
Robert Thomas
comprising a quorum ofthe Council; and
Phillip Oates, City Manager
Johanna Dollerhide, Acting City Clerk

NEW BUSINESS
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Motion (Thomas/Bardarson)
Go into executive session to evaluate and
discuss strategy and contract negotiation in
regards to the potential site locations ofthe
Long Term Care Facility.
Motion Passed
Unanimous

Councilmember Schafer recused himself from the executive session, as a conflict of interest
existed regarding the location of the Long Term Care Facility.

Council came out of executive session at 8:16 p.m.

Direct City Manager to pursue contract
negotiations for the site selection of the
Long Term Care Facility.
Motion Passed

COUNCIL COMMENTS
Bardarson thanked staff for their presentation tonight.
Valdatta was appreciative ofthe field trip that Council took last Tuesday night to the SMIC
area. Staff had planned out the trip very well.
Mayor Shafer thanked staff for their work done in preparation for tonight.
