A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A UTILITY WORK MACHINE FROM CRAIG TAYLOR EQUIPMENT FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $47,300, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS WHEREAS, the municipal building and parks and recreation departments have shared a 1984 John Deere tractor for the purpose of winter snow removal on sidewalks, bike paths, and the boardwalk, in addition to use in the summer months for parks maintenance projects such as grass cutting and small earthwork projects; and WHEREAS, the city shop crew has worked on the tractor numerous times to address a broken frame on the machine, as well as failures of the four-wheel drive mechanism multiple times, with the hydraulic systems also experiencing problems; and WHEREAS, the public works department worked over the winter to develop standards and specifications based on needs of the municipal building and parks and recreation departments, and issued an invitation to bid in April, 2005, with only one response being received to said bid; and ."..,- WHEREAS, the respondent, Craig Taylor Equipment, is considered to be both qualified and responsive, and agrees to perform all warranty work in Seward, at a total cost of $47,300; and WHEREAS, the City's 2005 Operating Budget authorized $41,000 for the replacement of the tractor with a utility work machine, thereby requiring an additional appropriation of $6.300 which is available within the Motor Pool Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward hereby authorizes the City Manager to purchase a Bobcat 5600 Turbo Too1cat B Series from Craig Taylor Equipment Company for an amount not to exceed $47,300. Section 2. The City Council hereby appropriates an additional $6,300 from the Motor Pool retained earnings account no. 102-0000-3050 to the equipment account no. 102- 1020-5930 to supplement the $41,000 authorized in the 2005 Operating Budget. Section 3.
