RESOLUTION 2005-46
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AMENDING THE PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT WITH THE
PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM (PERS), TO INCLUDE
THE SEWARD CITY MANAGER IN THE PERS SYSTEM
WHEREAS, prior to May 1, 1998, the Seward City Manager position was included in
participation in the State of Alaska Public Employees Retirement System; and
WHEREAS, the Seward City Council approved Resolution No. 98-047 on April 27, 1998,
excluding the city manager position from inclusion from PERS, at the request of the then city
manager Scott Janke; and
WHEREAS, it is possible to include or exclude various employee classifications from
participation in PERS; and
WHEREAS, the new city manager, Clark Corbridge, has negotiated a contract with the
Seward City Council which includes his participation in the PERS; and

WHEREAS, the City Council is required to pass a Resolution specifically requesting the
inclusion ofthe city manager position in PERS, in order to reverse previous action taken pursuant to
Amendment No.5 between the City of Seward and PERS.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward (182) hereby requests that the city
manager position ofthe City of Seward be included in the Public Employees' Retirement System of
Alaska.
Section 2. The City of Seward (182) further requests that the inclusion of the city manager in
the PERS System of Alaska be made effective May 23,2005.

Section 3. The city manager ofthe City of Seward is authorized and directed to take any and
all steps necessary to enroll the city manager position in the Public Employees' Retirement System,
and to initiate a Participation Agreement Amendment between the City of Seward, and the State of
Alaska, Department of Administration.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 13th
