RESOLUTION 2005-62
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING FY 2005 ALASKA POLICE STANDARDS COUNCIL
GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000 AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the Seward Police Department has been awarded a program grant from the
Alaska Police Standards Council, in the amount of$5,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the City is not required to provide any cash or in kind match; and
WHEREAS, use ofthese funds must augment the Police Departments training and related
travel; and
goals.
WHEREAS, these funds will be of essential assistance to the Police Departments training
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:

Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the 2005 Alaska Police Standards
Council grant of$5,000.00 and enter into a grant agreement.
Section 2 Funding in the amount of $5,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the State Grant
Revenues account # 101-0000-4680-0200 to training account # 101-1210-5160.
Section 3. This resolution will take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this day of
July, 2005.

BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION:
The Alaska Police Standards Council has awarded the City a FY 2005 Grant for the purpose of
augmenting the police departments training budget. The amount of State funding awarded is
$5,000.00. This funding is to only be used for training and related travel for police department
employees.
The grant requires that the City enter into a Contract Agreement with the Alaska Police Standards
Council for this funding. The Grant Agreement requires Council acceptance of the grant and
appropriation of funds.

Council approve Resolution 2005-62, accepting the Alaska Police Standards Council grant proposal
in the amount up to $5000.00 authorizing the city manager to enter into a grant agreement and
appropriating funds for the purpose of augmenting the police departments training and related travel
line items.
