CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE 2003-08
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE TABLE
15.10.225. LAND USES, TO ADD MOBILE MEDICAL UNITS AS A
USE PERMITTED OUTRIGHT IN THE INSTITUTIONAL
ZONING DISTRICT
WHEREAS, modern medical equipment is available in a variety of mobile units,
including but not limited to vans, fifth wheel trailers, and other towed apparatus; and
WHEREAS, allowing mobile medical units as a use permitted outright in the
Institutional Zoning District would be beneficial to the expanded provision of medical
screening, preparation and treatment services in Seward; and
WHEREAS, providing more medical services in Seward will lessen the use of
the helicopter evacuations to Anchorage allowing for more rapid evaluation and
treatment and will lessen helicopter noise; and
.... WHEREAS, providing for more medical services will enhance the financial
sustainability of medical facilities in Seward; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to maintain a city code that reflects
community needs; and
WHEREAS, notwithstanding the failure of the Planning and Zoning Commission
at it's October 8, 2003 meeting to recommend mobile medical units as a use permitted
outright, the City Council finds it to be in the public interest to allow such units in the
institutional zoning district.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF SEWARD ORDAINS that:
Section 1.
Seward City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Table 15.10.225 Land Uses Allowed is hereby amended by adding the following:

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA,
