CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 99-13
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA,
AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE TITLE 15 PARKING AND LAND USES
RELATING TO DORMITORIES, MULTI-FAMILY DWELLING AND CHILD CARE
CENTERS
WHEREAS, the presence of public institutions within the community are important to the
Seward economy; and
WHEREAS, the ability to provide affordable housing and day care is critical to the success
of these institutions; and
WHEREAS, the current zoning code requirements relating to housing associated with such
facilities are lacking or too restrictive; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to maintain a city code that is up to date and in tune
with current community needs.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEW ARD,ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Title 15 Seward City Code 15.10.215 Parking B.
LAND USE MINIMUM NUMBER OF PARKING SPACES
INSTITUTIONS AND PUBLIC USES
Multi-Family dwelling. institutional 1 space per unit
Sanitariums, nursing homes, dOliJ~loJic$ 1 space per 2 residents at maximum capacity
and other similar institutions
Dormitories 1 space per 4 residents at maximum capacity
Section 2. Title 15 Seward City Code Table 15.10.225 Land Uses Allowed is hereby
amended by adding the following:

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days' following its enactment.
