CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2007-116
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING A FY 2007 STATE HOMELAND SECURITY
GRANT UNDER THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TERRORISM PREVENTION
PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $95,840 FOR THE PURCHASE OF
COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the Seward Police Department applied for and was awarded a SHSGP grant
from the Department of Home Land Security, in the amount of $95,840.00; and
WHEREAS, the City is not required to provide any cash or in kind match; and
WHEREAS, the grant must be used for purchasing of an upgraded Interoperable
Communications equipment as identified in the grant application (2 Base station Radios, 8 Motorola
ASTRO XTS 2500 and 2 XTS 5000 Portable radios); and
WHEREAS, these purchases will better equip the Seward Police Department in maintaining
its goal of providing maximum protection possible to the lives and property of the citizens of
Seward, and replace an aging and failing communications center; and
WHEREAS, when expenditures are ready to be appropriate we will bring it to council for
their approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA.
Section 1. ACCEPTING the 2007 SHSGP grant award totaling $95,840.00 to account no.
651-6516-4680-0100 and appropriating to account 651-6516-SXXX.
Section 2. This resolution will take effect immediately upon its adoption
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 22nd
day of October, 2007.
