RESOLUTION 2003-157
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF $293,450 FOR THE
PURCHASE OF A CT SCANNER FROM ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS, INC.;
$288,000 FROM THE HOSPITAL CT SCANNER FUND AND AN
ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF $5,450 FROM THE HOSPITAL
CAPITAL EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT 101-0000-2290-0900
WHEREAS, the Seward City Council approved Resolution 2003-94 on August 23, 2003,
authorizing the acceptance of a grant in the amount of$288,000 from the Denali Commission for the
purpose of purchasing a refurbished CT scanner for use at Providence Seward Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, at the time of the acceptance of the grant, a specific vendor had not yet been
determined, based on the need to research the availability of used CT scanner equipment; and
WHEREAS, Providence Seward Medical Center has made their decision to purchase the CT
scanner from Advanced Diagnostics, Inc. and it is now necessary to authorize payment in the amount
of $293,450 to that company; and
WHEREAS, available grant funds currently fall $5,450 short of paying for the equipment,
and the hospital desires to utilize remaining capital equipment funds to cover this shortfall.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to expend $293,450 for the purchase of a CT
scanner from Advanced Diagnostics, Inc.
Section 2. The amount of $288,000 is hereby appropriated from the Hospital CT Scanner
Fund No. 890-8905-4680-0100 to the equipment account no. 890-8905-5930, and an additional
$5,450 is appropriated from the hospital equipment account no. 101-0000-2290-0900 to the Hospital
CT Scanner equipment account no. 890-8905-5930.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe City of Seward, Alaska, this 8th day
of December, 2003.
