Council Agenda Statement Meeting Date: December 10, 2007 From: Phillip Oates, City Manager Agenda Item: Amending the City of Seward’s Calendar Year 2008 State Legislative Priorities to include the Friends of the Jesse Lee Home’s request from $2 million to $2.6 million. BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION: The City was advised by the Friends of the Jesse Lee Home that we did not include the appropriate dollar figure for the restoration request for the Jesse Lee Home. The appropriate amount they have requested from the State of Alaska is $2.6 million versus $2 million dollars. The City has supported the efforts of the Friends of the Jesse Lee Home since 2005 and we continue to support their efforts. The Friends of the Jesse Lee Home have already received a State grant for $1 million dollars and private donations to the Foundation. CONSISTENCY CHECKLIST: Where applicable, this resolution is consistent with the Seward City Code, Charter, Comprehensive Plans, Land Use Plans, Strategic Plan and City Council Rules of Procedures. FISCAL NOTE: The priority request does not require any financial commitment Approved by Finance Department RECOMMENDATION: Council approve Resolution 2007- amending the City of Seward’s Calendar Year 2008 State Legislative Priorities to include the Friends of the Jesse Lee Home’s request from $2 million to $2.6 million.
