RESOLUTION 2003-123
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AMENDING RULE 9 (a) and RULE 9 (b) OF THE CITY
COUNCIL RULES OF PROCEDURES RELATING TO A CHANGE IN THE
DEADLINE FOR ADDING ITEMS TO THE CITY COUNCIL AGENDA
WHEREAS, Rule 9 of the City Council Rules of Procedures relate to the council meeting
agenda; and
WHEREAS, Rule 9 has not been updated to reflect the change in the deadline for council
members and staff to add items to the council agenda; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk's office wishes to amend Rule 9 of the City Council Rules of
Procedures to appear as follows (strike out = deletions, bold italics = additions):
RULE 9. (a) All reports, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, documents or other matters to
be submitted to the Council at the regular meeting must be submitted to the City Clerk not later than
12:00 Noon 5:00 p,m. on the Tuesday preceding the Monday meeting. The City Clerk prepares the
agenda for all such matters according to the order of business, numbering each item consecutively,
A copy of the agenda and supporting materials must be delivered to Council members and the City
Manager and made available to the press not later than 7:00 p.m, on the Saturday before the regular
Council meeting. (SCC ~ 2,10.055 D,) However, except in extraordinary situations, the City Clerk
will provide full agenda packets to the Police Department on Thursday afternoon for delivery to the
Council that evening. The agenda packet will be available for public inspection at 9:00 a.m, on the
day of the meeting. In addition, the Agenda will be published in the local newspaper on the
Thursday prior to the meeting,
Rule 9. (b) Council members who wish to add items to the agenda must present the item in
writing to the City Clerk no later than 12:00 Neen 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding the
Monday meeting, The Clerk will prepare the written agenda statement if notified by the Council
member prior to 12:00 Noon on the preceding Monday.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA that:

Section 1. The Seward City Council amends Rule 9 (a) ofthe Council Rules of Procedures
to appear as follows:

Section 2. The Seward City Council amends Rule 9 (b) of the Council Rules of Procedures
to appear as follows:
Rule 9. (b) Council members who wish to add items to the agenda must present the item in
writing to the City Clerk no later than 5 :00 p,m, on the Tuesday preceding the Monday meeting.
The Clerk will prepare the written agenda statement if notified by the Council member prior to
12:00 Noon on the preceding Monday.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 24th day of
November 2003,

The City Clerks office has reviewed the City Council Rules of Procedures and found a

number of housecleaning changes that need to be made in order to update and keep

consistent language between the Council Rules of Procedures and the Seward City Code.
Resolutions 2003-116 through 2003-127 reflect these changes.
