CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 95-14
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING THE CITY PERSONNEL
CODE, SCC TITLE 3, TO EXTEND THE MAXIMUM LENGTH
OF SERVE FOR TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES FROM SIX TO NINE MONTHS
WHEREAS, several temporary positions are needed for more than six months but less
than nine months; and
WHEREAS, extension of the maximum length of service for temporary employees would
correct the situation;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Section 3.25.040A is hereby amended to read as follows:
3.25.040 Temporary. seasonal/temporary and on-call/temuorary appointments.
A. Temporary appointments shall not exceed nine consecutive months.
No temporary employee shall work more than nine months in a calendar year.
Consecutive nine month appointments cannot be served over adjoining years
without a break in service as defined in ~3. 01. 035 of this code.
Section 2. Section 3.01.035 Definitions, is hereby amended to read as follows:
O. "Regular position" means a position which is expected to exist for
more than nine months. It does not imply...
Q. "Seasonal employee" means an employee hired under the terms
specified in ~3.25.040 of this code.
S. 'Temporary employee" means an employee hired under the terms
specified in ~3.25.040 of this code.
T. 'Term employee "means an employee in a position,jull or pan-time,
that is designed for a specified period of time of more than nine months and less
than two years for a specific purpose or project pursuant to ~3.25.050 of this code.
w: "Break in service" is defined as at least one entire pay period off
Section 3. Section 3.25.050, is hereby amended to read as follows:

Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect ten (to) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
