Sponsored by: PACAB <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2009-042 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ADOPTING THE NORTH HARBOR llEVF.LOP11~lENT <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />WHEREAS, Council directed the Seward Port and Commerce Advisory Board to generate <br />recommendations to guide city planning and private enterprise in the continued development and <br />management of the North Harbor Arca; and <br />WHEREAS, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board held multiple work sessions and <br />reguiar meetings to solicit public comments and discuss development policy for the area; and <br />WHEREAS, the 1993 Small Boat Harbor Management Plan incorporates and addresses this <br />area of the Harbor, but is outdated; and <br />WHEREAS, City Administration plans to update the Small Boat Harbor Management Plan <br />in 2010; and <br />WHEREAS, the attached recommendations shall be incorporated into the update of the <br />Small Boat Harbor Development Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the attached recommendations shall be used as a reference for the City of <br />Seward Municipal Lands Management Plan update; and <br />WHEREAS, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board rccouunended Council approval ofthc <br />attached development and management policies for the North Harbor Area. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT' RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD ALASKA that: <br />Section I . For the reasons stated in the recitals, Council adopts of the attached development <br />and management recommendations for the North Harbor Area. <br />Section 2. The development and management recommendations apply to the area with the <br />following boundaries: Port Avenue on the North, Alaska Railroad Property on the East, Fourth <br />Avenue on the West, and Harbor Waters on the South. <br />Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br />PASSED AND APPROVF,D by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 11°i <br />day of May 2009. <br />
