CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 95-17
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, REVISING SECTIONS OF THE SEWARD
CITY CODE, TITLE 15, REGARDING THE LAND USE TABLE,
DEFINITIONS AND VARIOUS HOUSEKEEPING REVISIONS
WHEREAS, continuous use, interpretation and review of Seward City Code Title 15 has
resulted in the discovery of certain sections of that title which require revision and clarification; and
WHEREAS, ongoing review and amendments are necessary to address the changing
conditions of the community and to provide consistent, accurate information to city officials, staff
and the public; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has approved Resolution No. 95-21,
recommending the proposed amendments to Title 15 included in this ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Seward City Code Section 15.01.030, subsection A, is hereby amended as
follows:
15.01.030 Qfjicial mavs.
A. eustodian. The [city clerkJ community develovment devartment shall
be the custodian of the ofjicialland use and zoning maps which shall be located in
city hall. Each map is adopted by reference and declared to be part of this title in
the exact form as it existed in April 1988, or when amended by the city council. It
shall be the final authority as to the current land use and zoning status of land and
water areas, buildings and other structures in the city.
Section 2. Seward City Code Section 15.05.015 is hereby amended to read as follows:
15.05.015 Incorvoration Qf additional documents.
For the purposes of this title the following documents as initially enacted and
thereafter amended are adopted by reference as part of the Seward Comprehensive
Plan:
1. Seward Airport Land Use and Development Plan (Dec. 1985)
2. Emergency Preparedness Plan (May 1986)

3. Plan of Action - Seward Fire Department (May 1986)
4. Seward Small Boat Harbor Uplands Management Plan (Nov. 1983)
5. Seward Marine Industrial Center Development Plan (Jan. 1995)
6. Seward Boat Harbor Master Plan (March 1993)
7. Municipal Lands Management Plan (May 1995)
Section 3. Seward City Code Section 15.10.140 is hereby amended by adding the following
definition:
Familv means any number of individuals not necessarily related by blood, marriage,
adoption or guardianship living together in a dwelling unit as a single housekeeping
unit and distinguished from a group occupying a rooming house, club, fraternity
house or hotel.
Section 4. Seward City Code Section 15.10.225 is hereby amended by adding the following
designations to the Land Uses Allowed Table:

Dwelling, condominium
Dwelling, multi-family (3 or more)
Dwelling, two family or duplex
Fuels, bulk fuel storage and sales
AC - permitted w/conditional use permit
AC - permitted w/conditional use permit
AC - permitted outright
I - permitted w/conditional use permit
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.

27th day of November, 1995.
