Dear Mr. Hunt;
The purpose of this letter is acknowledge receipt of your letter dated September 26, 2012
requesting the additional dredging in area L1, Alternative 2,under the O&M Task Order to dredge
the Seward Harbor. The total quantity for area L1 is 3,146 cubic yards (CYs). The original
quantity based on a 2009 survey was 2,250 CYs;the contractor's preconstruction survey shows an
additional 896 CY in area L1,this quantity does not include the side slopes,which may impact the
final quantity.
The estimated cost of this additional dredging,plus the associated supervision,inspection and
overhead, is expected to be$161,603. The contractor will be paid based on difference in quantity
between their preconstruction survey and their post construction survey, so the final quantity will
not be known until the contractor has completed the dredging.
Once the City.Council has approved the funds for the dredging please send a check made out
to "FAO,USAED,Alaska District"and mailed to the address below. If you have any questions or
are unable to provide funding at this time please contact me at 753-2861.
