I feel it is inappropriate for the Mayor and City Council to indorse the fund raising of any entity, that would compete with the funding requests of the City of Seward. The State of Alaska's Capital Budget is one pie of money. When two are asking for a piece of the pie, it is only common since that the pie WILL be divided. The Jesse Lee home is an admiral project and the Friends of the Jesse Lee Home are our friends and neighbors. Passionately I admire all of us for wanting to assist the Friends of the Jesse Lee home, but passion often must be tempered with responsibility. Would we indorse the fund raising of the Salvation Army to compete for State funds to build a facility in Seward. It would be a hard decision but the answer would be no. You must unfortunately also say no to the request of the Friends of the Jesse Lee home to place them on the State Priority list. If they are not already on it, placing them on a city funding priority lists maybe appropriate and helpful, but without an analysis of any return on investment, no dollar amount should be included. Thank you, I am Mark Kulstad and my wife and I own Hotel Seward. • APO / ("`i f > 4j j n fr.)(Cl/ !,•;,rih .7j4 ,r1• • r ;Lyilj .
