Kris would not be pleased if I didn't mention that all membership renewals need to be in by September 301h to be included in the 2019 Seward Destination Guide. 63rd Silver Salmon Derby saw the most fish ever weighed in one day N 450 on Day 7, Friday. About 5,600 Anglers turned in 2415 fish for a total of just over 21,455 lbs. So although ticket sales were slightly down from 2017 — the fishing was better for this year's participants. Average Coho weighed almost 9 Ibs! We very much enjoyed having the Obihiro (and Seward!) dignitaries join us at the Awards Ceremony. Stacey Walters of Seward caught the winning Coho weighing 16.73 Ibs good for a first -place trophy and $10,000! The tagged fish are still out there — so if you catch one, bring in the tag, it's good for $100. First Friday Art Walk, September 7th Today was the first day of work for our new Blue Pipeline Incubator Manager/ Business Adviser. Justin Sternberg of Nevada City, CA is in Anchorage this week with Joel. Jen Leahy will be joining them on Thursday for a 2-day Alaska Start-up workshop. Thanks to locals Willow Hetrick and Ron Wille for applying — we are sure there'll be many ways fortthem to be involved with this new endeavor. ;� On behalf of the chamber staff and all of our signature event volunteers, a great big thank you to Kenai Fjords Tours for hosting our dinner cruise to Fox Island last Friday. It was a beautiful evening in so many ways!
