As is the case each year — some members choose not to renew- for a variety of reasons - the #1
being "business closed". Our total chamber membership is currently 387.
e Small Business Saturday was BIG in Seward! Elizabeth Hashem was the chamber lead for this
event, rounding up businesses to participate and getting the word out to the community. Over 100
passports were tuned in and the 9 winners have been chosen N you'll hear more about that from
Elizabeth!
• Seward's Alaska Start Up event held on Nov 15th at the Community Library was also incredibly
successful. By partnering with the Center for Economic Development, Blue Pipeline Manager Justin
Sternberg, utilizing the MAD skills of our own Communications Manager Jen Leahy and asking local
businesses to form a panel, we were able to bring useful information to aspiring entrepreneurs.

• Pacific Marine Expo, Century Link Event Center, Seattle was, as always, widely advertised and
attended. In the Port of Seward booth this year: Norm Regis, Brennan Hickock, Christy Terry, Terry
Federer & me. We spoke to many potential visitors and customers and were able to network with
many of the other vendors. It was great having Catalyst Marine Engineering right next door to our
booth, providing a large Seward presence.
e- Seward Strong Initiative: Seward Community for Youth — Kickoff event tomorrow evening 6 — 8 at
the Community Library "Seward Community For Youth".
e Santa's Arrival 5:45pm Nov 29th, directly before the ASLC Community Holiday
e- Holiday Weekend Arts & Crafts Bazaar this Friday and Saturday at the cruise ship terminal — but
first!!! - The arrival of Santa and the ASLC Community Holiday Party on Thursday. Festivities begin at
5:45 pm.
