The successful candidate must have a solid background in local government management and administration, preferably in council/manager municipal government. Strong experience in budgeting and financial planning, municipal utilities, public works administration, project management, and community and economic development are highly desirable. Briefly describe your related experience in these areas. How will your experience benefit the City of Seward? 2. Concerning municipal utilities, one Seward’s challenges is planning for the orderly extension of utility services as the community grows, and determining how to finance those extensions. Have you faced that challenge previously in your career, and if so how did you approach it? What are your thoughts, generally, about financing utility extensions? 3. How will you go about establishing effective relationships with Seward’s elected officials, city staff, and stakeholders in the community, including the various users and beneficiaries in our developing ocean-based economy? 4. Describe your leadership and management style as well as how you believe you are perceived by others. Have your subordinates ever brought concerns to you about working with you, and if so how did you respond to those concerns? 5. Tell us why now is the right time in your career to take a position with the City of Seward and why you are the best candidate to become Seward’s next City Manager.
