HomeMy WebLinkAbout03112019 City Council Laydown - Substitute Res2019-026 /q9 3 Latictet,thl CC Sponsored by: Bridges Substitute Resolution CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION 2019-026 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE FROM ALASKA ENVIRONMENTAL & SAFETY SUPPLY, INC. EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT ON A MODEL YEAR 2020 FORD EXPLORER,INCLUDING THE COST TO INSTALL EQUMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $6,100.00,AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF$3,866.56 WHEREAS, the City has requested to purchase a model year 2020 Ford Police Patrol Vehicle; and WHEREAS,the vehicle must be professionally equipped with police emergency equipment; and WHEREAS,Alaska Safety,Inc. (ASI)has equipped other patrol vehicles for the City with good customer service and has given an estimate of$6,100 for the purchase and installation of new equipment; and WHEREAS,ASI will also reutilize the light bar,radio and all other reusable equipment from the 2007 patrol vehicle being replaced resulting in a cost savings of$13,740; and WHEREAS, the Police Department has sufficient funds in the Motor Pool Equipment Account to cover the cost of the equipment and installation. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to purchase from Alaska Environmental & Safety, Inc. emergency equipment on a model year 2020 Ford Police vehicle, in an amount not to exceed$6,100.00. Section 2.Funding for the cost of the equipment and installation will exceed the 2019 budget for this vehicle by $3,866.56, so the amount of$3,866.56 is hereby appropriated from Motor Pool Fund Retained Earnings account number 03000-000-34000 to equipment account 03000-1210-8103. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 11th day of March, 2019. Agenda Item: Approval for Purchase of Patrol Vehicle Equipment and Installation BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION: The City of Seward has requested to purchase a model year 2020 AWD Police Vehicle.The vehicle needs to be equipped with emergency and safety equipment. In prior years,the City has contracted services from Alaska Environmental & Safety Supply. Inc. for the purchase and installation of equipment. This company did an outstanding job and has honored warranty work flawlessly. The existing equipment from vehicle 251.which is being replaced, will be transferred to the new vehicle to save costs.Additionally,some smaller additional safety lighting will need to be installed. The Police Department has obtained a quote from Alaska Environmental&Safety Supply,Inc.far the transfer of existing equipment,and the purchase and installation of new equipment for$6,100. INTENT: Outfit a new police vehicle with equipment necessary to perform patrol duties. The purchase of this vehicle from Kendall Ford, with tires and wheels from. 'ferry's v a Tires and Six Robblees Inc. will cost$42,766.56. In addition, this resolution requests $6,100 tbr the purchase of new lighting equipment,plus the transfer of old equipment from Vehicle 251 onto the new vehicle, from Alaska Environmental & Safety Supply. This brings the total cost of the vehicle, fully equipped,to$48,866.56 which exceeds the 2019 budget appropriation by$3,866.56, necessitating an additional appropriation of that amount.
