Re: Proposed- Ryan M. Lewis Memorial Field
Dear Jackie,
I'm sure you are aware of the recent tragic death of Ryan Lewis. As news
of his passing spread through Seward, many in this town thought a good
way to honor him would be to rename Citizens Field to "The Ryan M. Lewis
Memorial Field"
Ryan was the son of Jim and Jean Lewis and was born and raised in Seward.
He attended all three schools here designating him to be a "12-year senior"
Ryan loved sports and participated in them all through his school years.
Beyond school, he played intramural basketball, volleyball and softball on
the City Leagues. Every summer up at Citizens and the Jon Perry Fields,
the various teams he played on would compete for championships. In
addition to organized ball, he and his friends would gather there to have
pick-up games of shadow ball.
Ryan Lewis was beloved in Seward by everyone from the parents who were
friends of his parents, his sports-minded friends, his childhood friends and
his co-workers and bosses from various jobs he held in Seward over the
years. These are just a few of the groups that mourn his death deeply and
wish to honor him by renaming the field.
The citizens of Seward, by our signatures on the attached page(s) request
you take this proposal to City Council so they will consider this request and
hopefully pass a resolution fulfilling it.
