CVB, Cindy Clock New Chamber members this month: Serenity Now B&B, Services Turo — Car Sharing The membership drive is in full swing with payments due by the end of the month. We anticipate another fantastic Seward Destination Guide for 2020. Seward.com has been updated with further improvements coming this winter Silver Salmon Derby The new Derby VHF radio donated by Andy Mezirow was a big hit! Anglers were listening to channel 12 three to four times a day for Derby updates. The baby Coho that Director Kristen Bates of Trail Lake Hatchery set up in a chilled aquarium to encourage fish buy backs and explain the smolt rearing program was incredibly cool! Thanks, Krisitn! This year, Dockside Dogs set up on our harbor lot which was a great addition to the Derby. There were 2092 Silvers turned in weighing 17,186 lbs which made the average Coho this year about 8.2 lbs. We are thrilled with these numbers because predictions on the Silver returns have been worse than gloomy ever since 2016. For perspective this year's catch was about 300 less fish than in 2018. Thanks to all the Derby sponsors, volunteers & anglers for a very successful event. The September First Friday Art Walk is on the 6th Meet the Candidates Night is here in Council Chambers on September 11th from 5:30 — 7:30 pm.
