CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 81-5
A RESOLUTION AWARDING THE NASH ROAD
EXTENSION PROJECT TO WILDER CONSTRUCTION
AND APPROVING SUPPLEMENTAL PROJECT FUNDING
WHEREAS, the Bids for the Nash Road Extension project were opened
on March 18, 1981; and
WHEREAS, Wilder Construction was the low bidder at $3,547,985; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Legislature appropriated $3,000,000 for construc-
tion of this project; and
WHEREAS, $962,000 of the $3,000,000 appropriation have been committed;
and
WHEREAS, this leaves a project shortfall of approximately $1,700,000;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward is the recipient of $4,500,000 in port
development bond funds approved by the voters in 1980; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities
has informed the City that the $4,500,000 bond funds are eligible to be
applied toward the Nash Road Extension project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward desires to facilitate early construction
of the Nash Road Extension;
NO~ THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1, Wilder Construction is awarded a contract in the amount
of $3,547,985 for construction of Nash Road Extension from Station 10+00 to
Station 157+00 including steel bin type retaining wall and asphalt surfacing,
Section 2, Supplemental funding for the Nash Road Extension in the
amount of $1,700,000 is allocated to be taken from the $4,500,000 port bond
funds,
Section 3, The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
execute the necessary documents to award this contract; provided however,
that written confirmation is received from the Alaska Department of Trans-
portation and Public Facilities on the use of the $4,500,000 bond funds for
the road project,
