RESOLUTION NO.
81-10
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, FINDING IT IN THE PUBLIC
INTEREST TO ACQUIRE CERTAIN PARCELS OF LAND
IN THE CITY OF SEWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has been for
several years planning the eventual expansion of its
street and roadway system and
WHEREAS, in order to plan for such orderly
expansion it is necessary for the City to acquire
certain parcels of land within the City of Seward, and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward prefers wherever
possible to acquire necessary land for purposes of
expansion of needed public facilities by direct sale
from the owners of said land as opposed to condemning
said land, and
WHEREAS, the owner of certain parcels within
the City of Seward has agreed to sell the same to the
City of Seward in accordance with that certain earnest
money agreement dated April 14, 1981, and
WHEREAS, under the terms and conditions,
etc., earnest money agreement, the purchase obligations
of the City of Seward are contingent upon approval by
the City Council for the City of Seward, and
WHEREAS, a public hearing as to the proposed
sale of said lots to the City of Seward was held on
April 27, 1981.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City
Council of the City of Seward that:
Section l. The City of Seward hereby deter-
mlnes that the acquisition of the following described
parcels of real property are in the public interest:

Lots ll, l2 and 13, Block 8, Cliff Addition,
according to Plat No.3, filed April 22,
1918, to the original townsite of Seward, Alaska.
Section 2. The City Manager for the City of
Seward is hereby authorized to pay to the owner of said
lots, Mrs. Jane Kesselring, the sum of FIVE THOUSAND
THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($5,300.00) for the purchase of
same, subject to receipt by the City of title insurance
to the property, a statutory warranty deed from the
owner, and compliance with the other terms and conditions
of that certain earnest money agreement dated April 14,
1981.
PASSED and approved by the City Council to the
City of Seward, Alaska, this 11th day of May, 1981.
