Ire Call to Order
The June 17 2009 regular meeting of the Seward Historic Preservation Commission was
called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Jolund Luther.
Opening Ceremony
Commissioner French led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
Roll Call
There were present: Chair Jolund Luther presiding, and
Tom Swann John French
Linda Lasota
Absent were (none).

Special Reports
City Administration Report -
Library Director Patty Linville reported on the following issues:
• Monica Hinders had applied for a seat on Seward HP commission.
• Doug Capra did not reapply for a seat, leaving two vacancies on the commission.
• Elections of Chair and Vice -Chair would be held next meeting, July 15
• Site dedication for new Library Museum building was held June 18 and Commissioners
were invited to attend.
• Linville had timesheets and expense reports for Commissioners for current CLG grant.
• New grant paperwork had been received for planters.
• Final grant paperwork due September of 2010.
• Setting a work session to work on the timeline for the CLG grant 2009 -2010 on Hoben Park
Restoration, Phase III: Planters was added to the June 17 agenda under New Business.

20th, 2009 Meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission

1.Discuss and request volunteers or set a work session for the 2009 -2010 Historic
Preservation Priority List
Action: A work session was scheduled for Wednesday, June 24th at 6:30pm to work
on CLG grants.
New Business -
A. Meeting Minutes from May 20 2009 Seward Historic Preservation Commission
B. Invitation to Allan Seward III
C. Proclamation for Alaska Flag Day, July 9
D. Discuss a Work Session for CLG grants.
Item A:
• Minutes were approved
Item B:
• The Commissioners requested more information on why to invite Allan Seward III to
Seward.

Item C:
• Swann made a motion to approve the proclamation. French seconded. The motion carries
with unanimous consent.
Motion (Swann/French) Approve the Proclamation for Alaska Flag
Day, July 9th

Item D:
• A work session was scheduled for June 24 2009 at 6:30 p.m.
• Lasota requested to see CLG reports that Linville submitted.
• Linville agreed to email reports to Commissioners.
Informational Items — (No action required) -
Commission Comments -
French requested the nomination of Jackie Pels for the Annual HP Award be added to the July 17
agenda.
Reynolds would solicit HP Award nomination form and add Award selection to July 17 agenda.
Luther thanked Doug for his service on the HP Commission.
... Linville asked the City Clerk's office about recognition for former Commissioners Doug Capra and
Greg Carpenter and was informed the Clerk's office would review their tenure and recognize them
accordingly.
