Opening Ceremony Commissioner Carpenter led the Pledge oC Allegiauicc to the flag. Roll Call There were present: Chair Shannon Kovac presiding, and Greg Carpenter Linda Lasota Julund Luther Tom Swann comprising a quorum of the Commission; and Tkmna Glenn, Planning Assistant Anne Bailey. Executive Liaison Special Reports City Administration Report Planning Assistant Donna Glenn reported nn the following items: • Welcomed the audience. • "1'he Commission wac invited to attend the Jesse T.ee Home Leadership School Community Work Session on Chaober 8, 2007 and October 9, 2007 at Legend's. Resolution 2007-114, recommending City Council aul6orize the City Manager to submit thr FY'08 Certified Lo~I Government [iistoric Preservation Fund Grant Application to the Office oC History and Archaeology, Alaska Division of Parka and Outdoor Recreation (ilcttz apologised to the Commission for the errors in the t listoric Preservation packet that was distributed. Stu staled that staff had corrected, rc-print~xl artd provided the new copies to the Commission as lay downs. She explained where the changes were made in the budget, the wordutg and timeline. She stated that she verified the timeline with the Anchorage SI IPO office and the grant would run through SePtenther ?009 attd that the word Historic was changcxl to [Iistorical. She continued that stall had provided a substitute resolution with the corrected budget amounts and several added words. Glenn requested that the. Commission take a few minutes to review the changes to the grant application and resolution and then they would tuxxl lu at:cept the substitute resolution by mation apd proceed. Page 9.i approve the application and authorize the City Manager to suhmit the application. She explained the corrections again and stated that staffrecommended the Commission approve Substitute Resolution 2007-04 Carpenter clarilicd that supplies in the budget included a eantcra and accessories. Motion (Swann/Lasota) Approve Subsfitute Resolution 2007-04 in response to Carpenter, Kovac stated that she wa_s pleased and appreciated that the Commissioners pulled the grant application together in such a short amount of time. Luther explained that the Commission discussed ideas at the Work Sessions that wuld be June quickly. In response to Kovac, Glenz referred to the packet, addressed the additional information items and where they were placed in the packet. Glenn apologised since she did nett address the enclosures in the agenda statement. Luther su~ested the additional inlbrtnation items be labeled altae;hment A, t3 and C. Carpenter contmcuded staff for gettutg the grant application together in a short amount of r_ time. Luther concurred with Carpenter. Motion Passed Unanimous Informational Items - (No nclion required)- Nune Commission Comments- Swann stated he was pleased with the Commissioners for picking a topic and following through with the application and thanked staff support in completing this in a timely fashion. Swann mentioned the Jesse Lee Home Leadership School and explained what was w be dise:ussed al the meeting. IIe enwur,~ed that the Commissioners attend and get involved in the prujca:t. Carpenter requested documents not be sent in 1'ublishcr format but be converted to a Plll•' or Word document. Luther and Swann concurred and stated they were unable to open the Jesse Lee I Lome Myer in the Publisher format, too. ~.. In response to Kovac, Luther stated that doctuncnts in a PDF format would be best. Luther stated that he had been involved wiilt the City husiness and development tncctings and iltc City was interested in doing things across the hay. He asked if the Commission knew of any historical items across the bay and that it would he a goad time to bring the infonuation forward. Kovac thanked Lasota, Luther, Carpenter and staff 1'ur completing the grant application.
