Seward Historical Properties List Suggestions
I have made notes of my thoughts below (using the numbers before the 24 items Jessica
forwarded, in the list) in hopes of expediting the meeting. I welcome corrections for the items I
don't have a complete grasp of.
4. No. Mrs. Urbach is a great lady and has a great store, but the building is not historical.
3.5.1 need informed of this location in order to pass judgement.
4.6. Passenger Depot? The only one I know of is the Railroad Depot listed separately???
5.7. No, I have not seen abowling alley in town, but have heard of it. Are we trying to designate
something as historical that doesn't exist?
6.12. No, Seaview has been remodeled and ruined of any eligibility to "historical status".
7.14. No, I see not historical value in the library/museum building; either the old or the new.
8.15. No, if this bldg were historecal, then you would have to include the complex it fell off of,
which is not historical.
9.19. No,Mile 0 was actually at the foot of 5`h avenue?
10.20. Where will the sigh be, on Millionaires' Row?
11.23. No, This port will be historical some day. The one that was no longer exists.
12.24. No, I see nothing historical about the Tribal Office.

Now here are my suggestions for consideration in adding to the list. This can and will be an
ongoing work. We could just start with the properties we concur with already on the list,
whereby making some progress this year.
2nd Ave.
402 2nd — the old dealership bldg.
318 2nd
316 2nd _ cute small house; maybe someone knows the history, like who lived there in the past?
303 2nd — this house was build before 1920.
3 rd Ave.
403 3rd — the house with the round corner.
417 3`a
418- The tree in this yard is perhaps the most beautiful in Seward and obviously
quite old.
425 3rd
4th Ave.
Sea Beans — these owners remodeled the upstairs apartments with period basics, like claw
foot tubs, etc
Methodist Church
Tony's Bar — lots of history in there.
5th Ave
Hotel Seward
228 5th — Log House
Ray Bldg.
IOOF bldg
611 or 613? 5th — house with beautiful stone foundation must have been there a good
while.
615 5th — Old Triplex
6th Ave.
Quonset Hut — Seward deserves one of these on the register.
Adams
611 Adams — Nice brown house on the corner with two dormers.
Seward Hwy
The airforce property deserves designation and signage noting the history of this property
during WWII.
