CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2004-63
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH SWENSON CONSTRUCTION TO REMODEL THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT DISPATCH AREA (INCLUDING MITIGATION
OF ASBESTOS IN THE AREA) TO ACCEPT THE NEW DISPATCH
CONSOLE FOR THE NEW RADIO SYSTEM, RELOCATE SOME WALLS,
AND PROVIDE SOME ADDITIONAL CHANGES TO THE DISPATCH
AREA, AT A PRICE NOT-TO-EXCEED $83,111
WHEREAS, the Seward Police Department has received three grants totaling $833,225.07
after Grant overhead is deducted; and
WHEREAS, $261,458.00 of these funds remain after purchase ofthe new radio system and
construction of the new radio room adjacent to City Hall; and
WHEREAS, the City has advertised for and received bids from three local contractors to do
this work, and Swenson Construction is the lowest qualified bidder at $83,811; and
WHEREAS, it is important to complete this work as soon as possible because the existing
equipment is failing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a Contract with Swenson
Construction at a price not-to-exceed $83,811 to complete this remodeling project.
Section 2, Funding is available from Grant Funds 651-6511 ($76,743.32) and 651-65l2
($7,067.68).
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 14th day of
June, 2004.
