Priority List of Sign Sites presented by Benoit. Benoit suggested to choose properties for selection that
were more spread out if possible so that it would make a better walking tour. Benoit wanted to have a
list ready for the next meeting to vote on to finalize at the next meeting to help focus the work that
needed to be completed.
Seese wanted to go through commissioner assignments and what properties people were completing
research on. Seese noted the properties she would work on researching. Seese believed that houses after
1942 should be removed, or not included for the initial signs. The remaining commissioners noted the
property owners that they individually had contacted already on the list and properties that might need
more information. Benoit was working with the city for approval of a sign in Kawabe Park which had
information on the downtown Fourth Avenue businesses. Libbrecht mentioned the owner of the Van
Gilder Hotel would be interested in participation in the project.
Benoit clarified that the funding line break point on her property list was delineation for the cutoff of
receiving signs due to the limited funding for only 25 properties. Anything below that, the properties
scored lower and were beyond the 25 top scored properties. Benoit noted that the 318 Third Ave
property was to be on the walking tour and should be removed from the list. Seese wanted to see the
Lowell Creek flume be moved above the cut off line because it had an important history. Ward reminded
the commissioners that any adjustments done to the order of the property list, need to be justified by the
scoring criteria agreed upon.
Benoit pointed out that anyone below the funding line that wanted a sign will be ready to receive a sign
once another grant could be obtained, and they will still be on the walking tour.
Kingsland asked about verifications of people agreeing to participate in the project. Benoit stated that
each owner would be signing the permit application so that would quantify who agreed to participate.
Ward stated that Benoit would have a resolution, or prepare a list, for a vote in February.
Seese asked that the diversion dam should be considered to be moved below the funding line. Ward
stated Seese was assigned to that location and that she could review the points and bring forward the
change to the next meeting in finalizing the list.
Ballou left the meeting at 11:53 am.

Benoit pointed out that one sign could be done for the dam and the flume at the dam location. Benoit
suggested that Woodlawn Cemetery be removed since the location was not within a walking distance of
downtown.
Seese asked about changing work session times. There was a consensus that the time be changed to
starting 10:45 a.m. to accommodate other schedules better.
Seese stated that Libbrecht would replace furlong on the historic planning committee.
