HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes2004-065 I I I Sponsored by: Shealy CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION 2004-65 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ACCEPTING FY 2004 HOMELAND SECURITY LAW ENFORCEMENT TERRORISM PREVENTION PROGRAM (LETPP) GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $121,000 AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS WHEREAS, the Seward Police Department applied for and was awarded a program grant from the Division of Homeland Security, in the amount of$121,000; and WHEREAS, the City is not required to provide any cash or in kind match; and WHEREAS, use of these funds must support the goals and objectives within the State of Alaska Homeland Security Strategy; and WHEREAS, the grant must be used for remote security cameras for the Seward Harbor; and WHEREAS, the addition ofthese cameras will enhance the security ofthe harbor area at all times as well as the staff working at the Harbor Masters Office. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL YED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the 2004 Homeland Security Grant Program award totaling $121,000 and enter into a grant agreement. Section 2 Funding in the amount of$121 ,000 is hereby appropriated from the Federal Grant Revenues account # 651-6514-4680-0100 to Capital Equipment account # 651-6514-5930. Section 3. This resolution will take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 14th day of June, 2004. These cameras will augment the security of the Seward Harbor by providing twenty four hour seven day coverage, monitored at the Police Department as well as provide recorded information of the same. Use of these funds can only be used for the purchase of these cameras and recorders. This grant is awarded with no cash or in kind match on the city’s part. CONSISTENCY CHECKLIST: Yes No 1. RECOMMENDATION: Council approve Resolution 2004-65 accepting from the Sate of Alaska Homeland Security a FY 2004 State Homeland Security Grant Program (LETPP) in the amount of $121,000.00, authorizing the city manager to enter into a grant agreement and appropriating funds for the purpose of purchase of Remote Security Cameras for the Seward Harbor.
