HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1960-189 CITY OF SEWARD OFFICE 01': , (. / LJ.- LA ' l' /).',y'-oJ- - 1--<-c-' ,_) (J ~:-.l ~ jyY '~vJ fL ,(p, ,.,...""IC,-rh3. \3c~ ~Ilo -tf (, + I ~/ WHEREAS, the present Seward COllllllunity Library has inadequate space for the proper storing of the existing volumes and exceedingly inadequate space for the use of the reference and other books, and CiAT~AY TO INTERIOR ALASKA BEWARD, ALASKA R.l!SOLUTION NO. 189 I'lHEREAS, the Seward COllllllunity Library is submitting an application to pro- cure Lots 12 and JJ in Block 15 of the Original Townsite of the City of Seward, Alaska, with the intention of building an adequate public library, and WHEREAS, the Seward COllllllunity Library has at present sufficient funds to start such building and with a tentative plan for a public subscription drive to obtain the additional funds necessary, and WHEREAS, in order to have an opportunity to obtain the above mentioned land from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, they must be able to show adequate arrangements for utility service including water, light, heat, sewage, etc., and WHEREAS, a public library is a normal civic function supported at least in part by taxes, and WHEREAS, the City of Seward has been in the habit of including some funds in its budget for the public library, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that The City of Seward hereby agrees to fur- nish the following utilities: water, light, heat, electricity and sewage, as its part or as a portion of its part of this civic fu nction, such support to include the normal service connections for water, light and sewage provid- ing that The City shall have an opportunity to examine and approve the plans to insure the proper location of these services and that these services will be installed in such a manner as not to entail unreasonable cost and that The City shall have the opportunity to examine and approve such plans for code compliance and fire protection.
