CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. ~
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, REPEALING SEWARD CITY CODE
SECTION 15.10.245 -15.10.260, PARKING ASSESSMENTS
WHEREAS, in 1994, the Seward City Council instituted a parking assessment fee in lieu
of paid parking at the request of Harbor Commercial area business owners; and
WHEREAS, administration and enforcement of the parking assessment fee program has
created a burden on city staff; and
WHEREAS, restricting parking in the main harbor parking lot to a maximum of four hours
has created ill will and resentment on the part of the visiting public who have expressed their
preference for paid parking rather than the present system; and
WHEREAS, the City is considering the creation of a parking management plan managed
by a private contractor; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to eliminate the current assessment system retroactive
to January 1, 1996;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Seward City Code Sections 15.10.245, 15.10.250, 15.10.255 and 15.10.260 are
hereby repealed.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
22nd day of January, 1996.
