RESOLUTION NO. 307
WHEREAS it is being proposed that a Baptist College be established and
built in Seward. Alaska or in the immediate vicinity thereof, and the coopera-
tion of the City Council and the City of Seward is needed for the accomplishment
of that end; and
WHEREAS there is a general atmosphere in Seward conducive to the operation
of such a college. due to the fact that there are no major military installations
in the area; and
WHEREAS such a college would contribute greatly to the economy of the
City of Seward; and
WHEREAS it is now necessary that the young people from Seward must travel
great distances to secure a college education, thus discouraging them from
seeking this education;
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council and the City of
Seward are vitally interested and concerned in having such a Baptist College
established and built in Seward, Alaska or in the immediate vicinity thereof
and shall do all things possible to cooperate and assist in the accomplish-
ment of that end, including giving all possible aid in procuring the
necessary land upon which to build the buildings for such a college.
Passed and approved by the C01IIIIlOn Council of the City of Seward this
4th day of March. 1963.
