RESOLUTION 2022-056
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A HUMANE SOCIETY
OF THE UNITED STATES TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP IN THE AMOUNT
OF$1,500
WHEREAS,the Humane Society of the United States is sponsoring a reimbursable travel
scholarship to attend the Pets for Life Animal Care 2022 Expo in Orlando, Florida; and
WHEREAS, this Pets for Life Animal Care Expo will take place in Orlando April 18
through April 22, 2022, and will provide an excellent opportunity for staff development; and
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded $1,500 travel scholarship from the Humane
Society of the United States to have Animal Control Office Shelli McDowell to attend the Pets for
Life Animal Care 2022 Expo.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD,ALASKA that:
Section 1. The City Manager hereby authorized to accept the scholarship funds from the
Humane Society of the United States.
Section 2. The funds in the amount of$1,500 are hereby accepted in the Misc. Grant
Revenue General Fund account 01000-1212-4253.
Section 3.This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska,this 25th
day of April,2022.

Agenda Item: Resolution 2022-056:Accepting and Appropriating a Humane Society of the
United States Travel Scholarship in the Amount of $1,500
Background and justification:
The City of Seward,Alaska has been awarded a Humane Society of the United States reimbursable
travel scholarship in the amount of$1,500. The funds will be used to offset the costs for the Animal
Control Officer to attend the Humane Society of the United States Pets for Life Animal Care 2022
Expo in Orlando, Florida.
