RESOLUTION 2022-057
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING GRANT FUNDS FROM
THE GIRLS STEAM AHEAD WITH THE NASA IMPLEMENTATION
STIPEND IN THE AMOUNT OF $400
WHEREAS, the Seward Community Library& Museum applied for a grant for the Girls
STEAM Ahead with NASA Implementation Stipend; and
WHEREAS,the Girls STEAM Ahead with NASA Implementation Stipend would provide
$400 to help implement programming using NASA's Universe of Learning Resources; and
WHEREAS,the Seward Community Library&Museum was awarded the grant on March
11, 2022; and
WHEREAS, accepting the donations would enable the library to do a NASA STEM
activity during the summer.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA that:

Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept and appropriate grant funds
from the Girls STEAM Ahead with NASA Implementation Stipend in the amount of$400. The
grant is hereby accepted in the General Fund Grant Revenue account 01000-1500-4251. Funds in
the amount of$400 hereby appropriated in the Operating Supplies account 01000-1500-7215 and
will be used for expenses associated with Nasa Activities in the Library.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 25`"
day of April, 2022.

Background and justification:
The Seward Community Library & Museum applied for a grant for the Girls STEAM Ahead with
NASA Implementation Stipend. The Girls STEAM Ahead with NASA Implementation Stipend would
provide $400 to help implement programming using NASA's Universe of Learning Resources.
The Seward Community Library & Museum was awarded the grant on March 11, 2022. This
program will be held in the summer time and will offer crafts and stem-based activities. Funds
must be spent by September 2022.
