As an East Peninsula Resident, outside the City, our P/C rep is Virginia Morgan. I view the East Peninsula economic corridor as important to all. We should work together when common interests align. Our KPB Assembly Representative is Cyndi Ecklund and the Moose Pass Community could not be more appreciative of her efforts on the P/C and now on the Assembly. As some of you may be aware MP has found itself in the crosshairs of a DOT/PF highway project planning. Our historic community is unique along the entire Alaska road system offering a peek into the days of territorial development. Today do to one size fits all rules, residents' business, home and pace of life are challenged by DOT plans. Everyone in MP understands the need to support the Seward Highway. Once not to long ago, the road started at the train depot and went only to Hope. Now the traffic corridor is critical to all users from fishing to medical care, education and freight. Recreational events like the Salmon Derby, Polar Bear Jump or 4th of July see large flows of traffic. We all want safe and practical travel. Moose Pass along the short 35 MPH zone has shown less severe traffic injuries than other high-speed portions of the road. There are other similar zones along State roads that do not in unduly bottle neck activity of the users. Traveling to the ASLC requires speed control from the bridges to the center but that fact has not stopped anybody from coming to Seward. MP wants to keep it that way. Efforts to protect and preserve the lifestyle in Moose Pass will not create any new travel Impediments. I hope everyone in Seward can learn, understand and join us on FB or at public meetings in our effort to find common sense with DOT Due to the posted Road closures between July 6th and Sep 15th I will personally be unable to attend CC meetings and still get Home. I hope to follow and provide input as best as I can. In favor Action Memorandum 2022-001 Detail the work of the AD Hoc group with over 150 volunteer hours to date Any request to the City Manager to authorize paid services from YCE would be by motion by the committee and carefully explain the purpose and skill sets to be provided. The committee recognizes the city has a similar service contractor, but the technical nature of some required input is most closely available from Any Baker of YCE. Bruce Jaffa Page 1 of 1
