WHEREAS, the City of Seward and its Citizens have experienced one
of nature's worst disasters, and
WHEREAS, this Disaster nccu~d in ~~d o~ the Holy Season, and
WHEREAS, Divine God has seen "'it in llis ~ent]e mercy to spare mcs t r::f:
us ~rom this Disaster, and

WHEREAS, while we mOFn ~or our honored dead and missing, and
WHEREAS, the determination o~ the Citi~ens is to ~ive thanks to

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF TRE CITY OF
SEWARD In Continued Emergency Session this date, that:

is ~iven those who have su...rered loss of ~> loved ones, friends,
and nropertv,
2. An exoression of nraise is ~iven the poenle of Seward for their
unlimited coura~e in the face of this disaster,
3. In this re~ard it is resolved that the First Sunday followin~ Easter
each year shall be set aside as "Seward Memorial ThankSgiving Day" for
~iv;ng thanks to Almi~hty God for our deliverance from this disaster and
mmm~r~l~ that t~is date shall be observed forever.
