I am providing this letter as a personal reference of Elliot Jackson and ZPA.LIC. have had personal and business dealings with Mr.Jackson and have found him to be honest with me,do exactly what he said he would do and act with integrity toward me. I tend to keep to myself and do not get involved in the City of Seward politics. In fact,did not even know the Breeze Inn was for sale until a couple days ago. Regardless of this. I do believe the continued operation of the Breeze Inn is good for the community of Seward,the businesses outside of the city limits and those who visit Seward. My personal experience with Mr.Jackson is such that I believe he would continue the operation of the Breeze Inn in a professional matter thus contributing in a positive light to the City of Seward. PHILLIPS CRUISES &TOURS, LLC January 19, 2023 City of Seward 410 Adams Street Seward,Alaska 99664 Dear Mayor and City Council, I am writing this letter in support of passing resolution 2023-001, re-assigning the Breeze Inn land lease to ZPA, LLC. I have known Elliott Jackson since he was a young child and have always been impressed by how much of a stand-up kind of person he is and his unlimited energy and drive to succeed. I recently had the opportunity to move part of my operations to Seward a couple of years ago and Elliot was more than helpful in assisting my company to find housing for crew and open arms support for this venture. I would not have attempted such a move to Seward without his help during a time when housing was impossible to find in your city. I understand that Mr.Jackson is trying to purchase the Breeze Inn and has all the necessary financial criteria met, has all the necessary experience for such an undertaking and is currently operating businesses very closely related to this proposed transaction. I took a quick look at the recordings of the public hearing that took place at Seward City Council on January 9, 2023 and was a little confused on the merits for denying the land lease transfer. So many of the public comments were based on rumors, personal dislikes, conjecture and other prejudices and very little about Mr.Jackson's ability to handle the purchase financially as well as expertise of operating the Breeze Inn property. Mr.Jackson has invested thousands of dollars in commissions and fees and thousands of hours preparing for this transaction to occur. It seems to me that Mr.Jackson is uniquely qualified to successfully purchase and operate the Breeze Inn property. I believe his plan is to operate the property much the same way as it has been operating for many years now except for a multitude of positive improvements to the facilities and operation. I respectfully ask that the City of Seward overturn the vote of"no" on resolution 2023-001 with great haste. Please vote yes when this resolution comes up for reconsideration.
