A PROCLA1'iATION NAllING THE MONTH OF HAY AS
CLEAN UP - PAINT UP - FIX UP -DEAtrrIFICATlON
MONTH
1~~ immense changes have resulted from the earthquake and tidal waves
of a year ago; and
l~S. the reconstruction work which the United States Government is
doing for our City has removed most of the evidences of destruction; and
~nnrnEAS. this reconstruction in the next few months will cause beautiful
ne"1 public bUildings, new public facilities and street paving to be
constructed; and
fffiEREAS. the City will very soon commence construction of the first paving
project within the City of Seward; and
l'ffiEREAS these improvements should be complimented by an improvement in
the appearance of our City which could result if all citi~ens would
CLEAN UP, PAINT UP, FIX UP and BEAUTIFY their property and the connnunity
property; and
HHEREAS. the p'cospect of really ~-Iorthwhile '"esults is a stimulation to
most of us to undertal;:e big things; and
fffiEREAS, we have here a big project of great importance to all citi~ens.

NOH, THEREFORE, I, PERRY n. STOCKTON, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SEHARD, do
hereby proclaim the month of May in this yezr 1965 to be CLEAN UP-
PAINT UP-FIX UP MONTH and do hereby endorse the following program for
your guidance in conducting and participating in this exciting project:
A CLEAN UP HEEK
To clean yards and alleys
Intensive trash removal drive
Group cleaning of public areas
Merchant specials on cleaning items
A PAINT UP HEEK
Paint homes. fences and business houses
Special group painting projects
A FIX UP HEEK
Moderni~e, improve and repair all buildings,
homes and facilities
Tear down old buildings, rejuvenate historic buildings,
city landmarks and public properties
Extensive fix up in the downtown area

A BEAUXIFICATION HEEK
Group beautification of city areas
Church groups beautify grounds
Beautify approaches to the city
Beautify homes and businesses
This Resolution to be in full force and effect immediately upon passage
and approval. Passed and approved by the Common Council of the City of
Seward this ~ day of April) 1965.
