HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1965-445 I" ~ RESOLUTION NO. 445 fl --yM 11 rJ-~~ ~ ~ _10 -- ~ 0, O_~yv ^ WHEREAS the Resurrection Bay Historical Society, a non-prof{t ~~ corporation of seward, Alaska, represented to the Seward City ft/-~ Council, at their May 17, 1965 regular meeting, that the AI Peel - 0Y tA rv \/-' Residence, located on Lots 10, ", 12 and 13 in Block 2 of the~~. Original Townsite of Seward, is a place of historical interest, ~~'(( because of its age and history, which would be a great attraction to tourists~ and WHEREAS the said Residence and the real estate upon which it is situated are now the property of Alaska State Housing Authority, and the furniture and furnishings in said Residence are the property of the Estate of Carl orlander, deceased~ and WHEREAS it was also represented to the Seward City Council that Alaska State Housing Authority and the Administrator of the Carl Or lander Estate are willing that the said Al Peel Residence and furniture and furnishings therein be left as is and set aside as a museum, to be administered by the Resurrection Bay Historical Society under agreement with the City of Seward~ and WHEREAS it is proposed that a lease of said Residence and real estate be entered into between A.S.H.A. and the City of Seward on a temporary basis, and that later a relinquishment of said property would be made to the City, for museum purposes~ and WHEREAS The Resurrection Bay Historical Society has agreed -1- ~ to administer said property, clean it up, and operate it as a museum, provided the City of Seward will underwrite and pay costs of utilities, heat and liability insurance therefor~ and WHEREAS the Seward City Council has agreed to pay said costs for a period of time which shall be subject to review at the end of ~ (1.;1.) months from and after the date hereof ~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of The City of Seward that said City will underwrite and pay costs of utilities, heat and liability insurance incurred by Resurrection Bay Historical Society in the course of its operation of said Al Peel Residence as a museum for an indefinite period of time~ ',,\. . This Resolution to be in full force and effect immediately upon passage and approval. PASSED AND APPROVED by 77!;;. the City Council of the City of Seward this day of June, 1965.
