RESOLUTION 2004-94
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, RE-APPROPRIATING $2454.20 UNSPENT IN FY 2003 FOR
THE PURCHASE OF AN ASTRO SPECTRA MOBILE RADIO UNIT
WHEREAS, the City Council approved the purchase of a mobile radio unit for the new
2004 Crown Vic (Resolution 2003-105) at the October 13lh 2003 meeting; and
WHEREAS, the order was placed in November but due to unforeseen problems with
Motorola the actual order was not filled until after January 1512004; and
WHEREAS, final billing for the mobile radio unit occurred during the 2004 budget
cycle.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council hereby, authorizes the purchase of an Astro Spectra Mobile
Radio for the 2004 Ford Crown Victoria patrol vehicle.
Section 2. The cost of the radio, $2454.20, is hereby re-appropriated from the Motor
Pool Fund Retained Earnings account number 102-0000-3050, to the Motor Pool Equipment
account number 102-1020-5930.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this
13th day of September, 2004.

Agenda Item: Re-Appropriation of funding for Mobile Radio

BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION:
The City Council through resolution 2003-105 approved funding for the purchase of a
Astro Spectra Radio unit for the Police Department’s 2004 Ford Crown Victoria patrol
vehicle. The radio was ordered in November however Motorola was unable to make the
st,
order to their supplier until after January 1 2004. Consequently billing came during
2004 after the 2003 budget was closed.
The Police Department contracted with Motorola Inc. and has been given a cost of
$2454.20 for a new Motorola Astro Spectra Mobile Radio. This radio is capable of
being upgraded to operate on the ALMAR trunked radio system.

FISCAL NOTE:
Funding was included in the FY 2003 Budget, and was not spent due to the timing of
receipt of equipment. Therefore we are requesting an appropriation from the police
departments retained earnings in the Motor Pool Fund account number 102-1020-3050.

Recommend approval of Resolution 2004-94, authorizing the re-appropriation of
$2454.20 to finalize the purchase of a new patrol vehicle mobile radio from Motorola
Inc., in an amount not to exceed $2454.20.
