Tyler Mallory has provided PROS and CONS of the gated system
Gated System
PROS
• Secure lots with good compliance rates.
• Less employee time needed for enforcement action.
• Citations would be minimal.
• Limited human error aspect
CONS
• Significant upfront cost ($250K for materials, would need jersey barriers, and running of power
lines to 10 different locations for gates and ticket/pay stations.)Speculating close to a million
dollar project that would not be achievable for the upcoming season.
• Must pay to secure all of our lots to only have one entrance and exit. (NE, N72, S72 would all
need upfitting.)
• Traffic flow issues in the harbor.
• Gate arms are approximately$3K each. Some will be broken.
UPSAFETY
PROS
• Minimal upfront cost ($37K over 3 year period)
• Allows for accurate enforcement with the technology in the system.
• Allows for center lot free 2 hour parking to be more easily achieved.
• Puts staff in the harbor to assist visitors.
• Partnering with Upsafety for non-payment reminders and collections frees up significant staff
time.
• Work flow for employees would be easy. (Scan license plate,verify time)
CONS
• There will still be some loss of revenue from non-compliance.
• Human error factor is still part of the equation.
