HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1966-542 r---~-~-- RESOLUTION NO. 542 WHEREAS, there is no cultural and art center building in the city of Seward and therefore such displays and actiYities must be tem- porary and limitted in scope: and WHEREAS, a cultural and art center would be beneficial culturally to Seward and the Seward community: and WHEREAS, such a facility would be an attraction to the tourist industry and thus benefit the community: and WHEREAS, a cultural and art center to be constructed on Lots 38, 39 and 40 in Block 8 of the Original Townsite of the City of seward, Alaska as an Alaska Centennial project, being sponsored by the Seward Community Library Association, is in the planning stage, and WHEREAS, the City Council of The City of Seward wholeheartedly endorses this project and considers it to be eleigibl. for finan- cial support by the City: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT R::':SOLVED that The city of Seward hereby agree~ to furnish the following utilities for the proposed Alaska centenni~l Cultural and Art Center to be constructed on Lots 38, 39 and 40 in Block 8 of the Original Townsite of the City of Seward, Alaska, to be administered by the Seward Community Librarya water, light, heat, electricity and sewage: and BE IT Fu1RTHER RESOLVED that service connections for water, electricity and sewer service shall be furnished by the city to the Centennial cultural & Art center without charge providing the City shall have an opportunity to examine and approve the plans to insure the proper location of these services and to insure that these services will be installed in such a manner as not to entail unreasonable cost: such approval being over and above the requirements of the I r::ity of Seward Building, Electrical and plumbing Codes and the secur- ing of permits to regulate same. !7..'.is Resolution shall be effective on the date of passage and approval.
