WHEREAS, The City of Seward filed an application for Economic
Development Act grant in the sum of $270,000 for industrial site
development, dredging and dock in the City of seward, Alaska; and
WHEREAS, upon advice from and recommendation of the Economic
Development Administration staff, the City amended its application
to request $378,000 grant and $162,000 loan, for which general obli-
gation bonds were approved by the electorate of The City of Seward
on October 5, 1965;
WHEREAS, the City has entered into a contract for ciredg.ing the ~ten-
sion of the Seward Municipal Small Boat Harbor as th,is is the pri-
mary improvement aut'hnri ud by the. ele.ctn,.~:t,. ~ tha Cit.y O)uncil;
and
WHEREAS, for certain considerations the City has approved an exten-
sion of completion date of said contract for ninety days from
octoberl, 1966; and
WHEREAS, the City has not offered its bonds for sale to any other
prospective purchaser due to the offer and recommendation from EDA;
and
WHEREAS, the financial responsibility of the city may be jeopardized
without approval of the grant and loan from the Economic Development
Administration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Economic Development Admin-
istration be and is hereby informed of the urgency of this matter,
and be petitioned for an early and favorable decision regarding
said application.
