HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1968-686 I I i I i , RESOLUTION NO. 686 WHEREAS, the State of Alaska officials and the administration of The City of Seward are deeply interested in and are working toward the development of the natural resources of the State; and WHEREAS, the Korean firm of Samyang Fisheries, Samyang Navigation and Samyang Development Company, Ltd., of Seoul, Korea, the Honorable K, S. Choung, Chairman, has shown an interest in the natural resources of the State of Alaska, and has visited the State discussing the matter with State and Federal agencies and officials, and has made public an announce- ment that he would welcome an opportunity to establish facilities in Seward; NOW, THEREFORE, The City Council of The City of Seward, recommends that Federal and State agencies and proper officials proceed, without delay, a study and research program which will cover the economic impact and the feasibility of allowing this firm to establish facilities and operations in the state; AND FURTHER, that the necessary Federal and State laws and regulations be reviewed and proposed changes be introduced, if required, to enable this firm to establish facilities in Seward, Alaska, which facilities will assist the economic stability of The City of Seward and will also assist the State of Alaska in developing their vast natural resources, some of which have never been developed, and which Samyang Companies have shown an interest. Copies of this resolution to be forwarded to: Honorable Hubert Humphries, Vice President of the United States Honorable Ernest Gruening, U, S. Senator Honorable E. L. Bartlett, U. S. Senator Honorable Howard W, Pollock, U. S. Representative Honorable Walter J, Hickel, Governor of the State of Alaska Mr. K. S.
