niB CITY OF SEWARD
RESOLUTION NO. 741
WHEREAS, The State of Alaska, through its Ferry System, operates ferry senice
to and from the port of Whittier, and
WHEREAS, Tne State of Alaska must reimburse The Alaska Railroad for losses
sustained by the Railroad in providing access to the port of Whittier by means
of autOllobile carrying flatcars, and
WHEREAS, the port of Whittier is primarily a federal installation without status
as an Alaskan cOll&Wli ty, now,
1liEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of The City of Seward, Alaska
hereby requests The State of Alaska to suspend ferry service to the port of
Whittier,
AND, BE IT PURnlER RESOLVED that the City Council requests The State of Alaska
to provide ferry service between Valdez, Cordova and Seward in order to utilize
more fully the total concept of the Alaska Marine Highway System,
This Resolution shall be effective on the date of its passage and approval,
